frusciante fan Posted July 13, 2005 Author Report Posted July 13, 2005 feeling kind of ignorant but what do MPFI and SFI mean. i actually know the meaning of DOHC. Quote

Canada Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 DOHC engines have 4 (or more) valves per cylinder and have the ability to rev higher. A 3400 swapped car would.....I think Germ ran a 16.0 or 15.9 with his Monte. Most of the 3100 W cars run mid 16s......a 3800 Series I should be good for that. A Series I did make 170 hp @ 4800 and 220 ft-lbs 3200 afterall. Don't count out the 3800 Series II so quickly.......my neighbor used to have a 1997 GP GT and squeaked off a 15.7. Most 3.4L DOHC (LQ1) automaitcs won't run that in stock form. However, the manuals will. Quote

88Regal Limited Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 http://w-body.com/motors 1993 lumi had the 2.2. And BTW, since when is the Iron duke faster than a 2.2? Engine Description 2.5L inline 4-cyl Horsepower (HP@RPM) 105@4800 Torque (ft-lbs@RPM) 135@5200 Engine Description (LN2) 2.2L inline 4-cyl Horsepower (HP@RPM) 120@5200 Torque (ft-lbs@RPM) 130@4000 2.2 has more top end but 5 fewer tq. I saw a vid of iron duke vs 2.2 and it was like watching a V6 in slow mo. (the 2.2 won by 2-4 cars) Quote

Canada Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Hairdo12, ask and you shall recieve! Here is a video of my roomate's 1991 Beretta base 2.2/3 speed automatic (with a couple minor bolt ons) against my old roomates 1987 Celebrity Iron Duke. http://www.berettaspeed.com/downloads/download.php?id=5 Does GMPP still make performance parts for the Iron Duke? Its not hard to get that engine over 180 hp....and its STRONG. Quote
1990lumina Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Yay, my engine is totally dead last Quote
Canada Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Well......its an underpowered V6 in a heavy ass car.....what do you expect? Quote
frusciante fan Posted July 13, 2005 Author Report Posted July 13, 2005 so is there anything special about the first gen 3800? other than it's bigger? Quote
slick Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Does GMPP still make performance parts for the Iron Duke? Its not hard to get that engine over 180 hp....and its STRONG. That, I am unsure about. But, aparantly those engines can take a ton of abuse, and have a decent aftermarket suprisingly. Quote

Prospeeder Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 ok, i have NEVER seen a 2.2 in a w, ever, name one person on this board with one, or a pic of a lumina or what ever with that motor in it, it wasnt a w-body motor, the only 4bangers in w's were the 2.5 and 2.3, thats it http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31175 EDIT:ok thats insane, kbb says only the 93 had the 2.2, why tho, thats crazyness, iv never in my life seen, or even herd of be4 now of a lumina w/ the 2.2 Quote
GP1138 Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Well... Guess my car blows. No, your supercharger does! :read: Quote
99RegalGS Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 i think both the 3100 & 3400 would take a Series I 3800 W-body. I think a Series 1 3800 will take a 3100. Here's why: In 2002 my Regal ran a 16.8@82mph with 115k and BONE STOCK. Last weekend GP1138 (sorry to point you out lol) ran a 16.8@81mph with ?????miles with a 3400 intake swap. I think a 3400 would take a L27 3800 in a 1/8 mile or longer race though... Quote
GP1138 Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 I wouldn't use me as an example, as I'm not sure my "upgrade" did all that much. Terryk2003 said his ran a 16.5 or something like that. It was also my first time at the track, but I got a 16.8 and the rest 16.9(out of around 5 runs). Quote
