intern8tion9l
is it worth me buying a turbo setup to install on a 2.8? and if so, what else needs to be done to make the setup work? i know nothing about the turbo motor...basically i'm just asking if it's pretty much a bolt-on upgrade
digitaloutsider
Don't bother with the 2.8. Go grab a TGP engine and tranny.
THe_DeTAiL3R
A 2.8 would probably handle a turbo just fine. If the kit is much cheaper than buying a TGP motor, I'd think about it. You've already got the 5-speed so the memcal would have to be tuned differently anyways... And to answer your question, no I wouldn't consider this a "bolt on" upgrade.. little more involved then that. Nice looking car BTW!
Canada
Beings that your 2.8 5 speed is mint.....Id keep it that way and find another W to turbo.
digitaloutsider
If you can actually find a complete turbo system cheaper than you can a TGP motor, then go for it. (I just find that happening VERY VERY VERY unlikely) I didn't see you had the 282. Beef it up a little bit, and you should have no trouble bolting it up to the LG5. intern8tion9l
so what are the major things i'm looking at? the setup i found has the turbo, manifolds, and downpipe. it's only like $
Guest TurboSedan
are you reffering to the TGP turbo/manifolds/crossover pipe and downpipe going for $250 on EBAY?
intern8tion9l
yeah i am, just saw it, thought it looked good
Guest TurboSedan
http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31097 keep in mind you'll need alot more parts than just that stuff. i myself wouldn't hesitate to turbocharge a 2.8 MPFI V6. i turbocharged my NA 3.1 with TGP stuff, and if anything the 2.8 is probably a little stronger. i say go for it.
