Are stock wheels/tires worth anything?

No..

Well, unless you have something like Cutty or especially 94-96 GP 5-spokes.. Then you COULD possibly get at least some money for them. Lumina wheels? Not a chance in hell. If you live up north, I'd just keep them for winter usage.

If you live in the "Rust Belt" then mount some snow/ice tires on the stock steel wheels and run them in the winter. Post the old tires for sale here on the forum (I'm sure someone could use a set of 205/70/15's) and if nobody's interested, put them up on eBay.

As far as your question, you won't get much money for them, but it's not like they're completely worthless...

An example of how much a stock wheel is worth..

I smashed the tires of the right side of my car (1988 GP) on the curb. Damaged on of the 15" sawblades, so I went to the junkyard. I think I paid either $20-30CND for one.

I painted them (Duplicolor) when I had them on the 88', now I have them with 205/70/15s for winter use.

My crosslace (in my sig) I don't really consider "stock" anymore.. they've had at least $200 worth of polishing put into them, and they look really cool, but I really don't know how much $$$ they would be worth.

At least keep them.. you might find a future w-body to put them on. I still got $45 for my GP at the junkyard and I'm sure they woun't have given me much more if I left the wheels on there.

If you have 14's on there, you're better off leaving them on the car when you junk it...

I think I got $9.99 on Ebay for my 16" pie-cut Cutlass wheels. WITH TIRES. I even advertised them on the forum!!! Cheap-ass W-body owners. :gone2far:

Anyway, I would have kept them for that price.

if you have the lumi hubcaps(which it looks like you do from your pics) you wont get much for em...Maybe like $20 if you're lucky. they're on ebay all the time for like 30 even 40 bucks sometimes.

I'd just save em for winter use

You could always throw the best one in the trunk so you have a full-sized spare...

Looks like I'll just be keeping them on.

I just can't make myself spend $530 on a set of wheels and tires for being vain and for a car I don't really plan on driving more than 3 years. So, I think I answered my own question here. Are stock wheels worth anything? To me? Hell yeah! ;)

To me a car that's not worth keeping more than 3yrs is not even worth buying, but that's just me.

Unless it's a dirt cheap beater and you drive it till it dies... Which his new Lumina isn't old and certainly not dirt cheap.

Maybe for some people, but I'm unable to resist turning even a "beater" into a project where I'm constantly replacing any parts that are in less than mint condition. For me, cars also never die. My definition of a dead car is one that's had major frame damage in a collision or rust holes in the frame. As long as swapping parts can fix it, it's not dead.

i agree wish shawn here, except frame damage dosen't bother me much  i won't be content and feel i have got my worths out of my z34 till the odometer is no less then double what it is now (137k)

as for wheels, shop around at junkyards, if you find a nice set of montie wheels cheep, get em.

have you been reading my mind lately? Or maybe I'm just that predictable... that's exactly what I was thinking of - just to look around for the LTZ 16" wheels, that's all.

About car longevity... First off, I live in an apartment, so it's awfully hard to fix a car here (actually, they don't allow even changing oil fearing an oil spill)... Now, while I do have friends that are car enthusiasts, they have projects of their own and I'd hate to intrude on their workspace with my lack of skills and understanding of wtf I'm doing... And, while the new GTP is an awesome looking car (I think), the Luminas I'm not so certain... That's all... I was just thinking that someone who has $30k in school loans shouldn't spend $500 on wheels for his car
