Crazy Car

Mycar is revving (600--->1600rpm) and I'm not pressing gas....code 12 keeps coming up....that's nothing!...what does this??....how do i make it better??....replaced MAP and IAC...still goes crazy...not an everdy problem but like 2-3X a week.

 

My take....reset cpu and/or replace it

Are you actually showing a SES light?

Sounds like classic symptoms of a leaky intake manifold gasket, but that's more likely on 3.4 DOHC's and 3100's. Rather uncommon on 2.8/3.1 engines.

Test for this by spraying carb cleaner on the intake manifold gasket and see if RPM's change (I've heard WD40 works too).

My 2.8 kinda ran like that (SES light was on but due to a different problem) it stalled also. I cleaned the TB/ IAC and it ran better after that. Maybe try to GM top engine cleaner.

if i remember right, not sure, but i think a 12 is o2 sensor, but check to be sure

code 12 means everything is okay. blink... blink blink. SES light shouldn't even be on.

I have a 1990 3.1 I'national. Yes, have an SES...paperclip says 12..but I know that's wrong...changed IAC and MAP....I think its Intake Manifold but i can't afford that....what can I do to fix this. I am pretty good w/cars but live in anal community...SOL....help!!
