richiewwhite Posted July 6, 2005 Report Share Posted July 6, 2005 Hey guys.. me again and i think im here to stay since nobody seems to want to buy my car since tires are shot, Ive decided to keep it. Ive got the car going pretty good and its good on gas to but sometimes its not as fast as it should be. The other day I had my car parked in the sun(not sure if this matters) but at lunch I took it for a ride. The car was a beast! a real animal but, unfortunatly it isnt always this way. Its still pretty quick but not like that. Ive put alot of new parts into it. Tensionor, coils plugs, almost all gaskets on top of the motor. O2 helped alot with the gas mileage. I put a new primary fan motor in so now the car never gets over 210 It used to run around 220-230 at hottest. The car runs and drives smooth. It just somtimes is a raped beast and somtimes not. I want this beast running like a beast should! another thing I noticed on the car is that on the throttle body there is a peice of linkage disconnected. Its a long slider thing that goes on the bottom end of the throttle body. I think but im not sure that is in cruise control or somthing to do with. If I hook it up to the throttle body the car revs to 3k because its holding the throttle body open. WTF mates? Car has cold a/c and everything works ok. radio doesnt but thats ok. Whats causeing the car to run like a raped date? then like a regular economy car? It has a new pump new fuel filter new plugs and wires. new dogbones clean air filter. I have a peice of cold air induct pipe going to stock air box so that hose doesnt close up. boost seems to go to about5 or so on the stock guage. oil pressuer could be a lil higher at idle. It has stock computer as far as I know. Im not sure what that fuse panel is for on the passenger side under the hood. Some fuses look like rusty and not sure if they are bad or good.car idles fine right around 800 or so. Occausionally Ill get an idle around 1100. Im not sure wtf is with the car. I would love to have it have the balls that it has somtimes have it all the times. If that makes any sense. Let me know what you guys think? I dont have a ECM to try and replace it with and im not into buying a new one. Also let me know about the throttle linkage thing. Its like a few inch long slotted bar that hooks on. I will take a picture in the day tomorrow. thanks in advance. One more thing MY rear suspension is buff! Like too buff I think almost solid. and the front is pretty soft. is that normal? Darkness Posted July 6, 2005 Report Share Posted July 6, 2005 Not positive on the couple inch long slotted thing, but on the older GMs that use to be the tranny "passing" kick-down. When the throttle was opened so far, it would select the next lower gear. I haven't really played with my TGP's tranny, but I don't think it is electronically controlled. Could be wrong. One thing you might want to do is hose down your linkage with some penetrating fluid or at least some WD40 and work it in. Heck, ;ast Fall my throttle got stuck on wide open when my brother was tacking it for a test drive. I'd start with making sure your throttle body is nice and clean, and lubricated. richiewwhite Posted July 6, 2005 Author Report Share Posted July 6, 2005 Im not sure if its a kick down cable as Ive never had trouble with the tranny kicking down into gear at WOT.. The throttle body is also clean as a whistle as I had the whole intake off and had bead blasted everything. I was trying to sell the car for 1000 bucks. I had put it on ebay and some dick had won it for 1300 and not wanted to buy it. He bitched about really little things. Like the fact that on the door panels there is no material covering the speaker grill. It is just black plastic. i took them off because they were stained to shit and now it actually looks decent.
