Psych0matt Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 So I found out what my power steering leak was from. my rack and pinion has a big leak. so in other words, I need a new rack and pinion, which to buy from them is almost 400$ on top of that is tie rod ends, an alignment, and labor, making it cost (to have them do everything) 850$ Can any body suggest something to get this done? or where else i might be able to get some parts cheaper or something? it's not really something I can do with the time I have, but if i could buy all the parts myself somewhere and have someone do it or whatever... gosh this sucks Quote

My rack and pinion steering was replaced right before my grandma gave me the car and she paid $550(cdn)+tax for the parts and labor. My dad replaced the steering rack and pinion on his Taurus last year, but didn't do any of the other suspension components and it costed him around $400 Cdn Quote
5speedz34 Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 Well, I'm looking at replacing my rack and pinion also, and around here it's like about $150+ core charge for the rack which comes with inner tie rod ends, and the outers which I did already are like I wanna say $20 a piece. But you're also getting a alignment done, believe me a rack and pinion is a big job. Quote

92 GP Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 the EXACT same thing happened to me. I was turning the wheel and dad CLAIMED it to be the dump, so i said OK and replaced it. Kept leaking, so i had HIM turn it and i saw it squirting out as well! Quote

I just wish I woulda had the time and equippment to do it myself. but all in all its fixed and im set now for a while, I'll just have to hold off on buying some of the other toys I wanted for a few weeks Quote
