THe_DeTAiL3R
I did a search but came up with inconclusive results... So do they make an aftermarket A/C delete pully for the 3100 block? I know they did for the series II 3.1 but I have no idea if the condensor is different or not. And they didn't make any factory GM ones for the 3100 (according to the guy at the dealership). It will probably cost too much to fix my A/C, so I might as well try to get a few HP or at least hopefully a bit better MPG.
1990lumina
What is wrong with your A/C???
THe_DeTAiL3R
What is wrong with your A/C??? It doesn't work. I don't think there is ANY pressure, the compressor doesn't turn on (ever), and I had a problem with the clutch on the compressor making lots of noise (got a garage to adjust it for $40). I really don't know much about A/C except that it can get really costly to get working, and sometimes the trial and error to get it working 100% can really add up. Canada
Just use the A/C delete pulley from the 2.8/3.1. 10044867 for the 2.8/3.1. $29.02 list, $14.51 + shipping from GMPD. It comes with the mounting hardware. http://www.w-body.com/forum/search.php?search_id=1531562887&start=50 http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25347&highlight=delete http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24875 The reason your compressor won't turn on is because you don't have any pressure. But why don't you have any pressure? Leak?
THe_DeTAiL3R
Cool thanks I gotta see if I can find a garage that can check out my A/C for cheap before I go tearing parts off my car though .
Stevo
Why not just pull the guts from the existing unit leaving only the pulley/bearing/housing? I did that for my 2.8L because it was ridiculous to go to R134 when the unit died.
Canada
Because that is the ghetto way of doing things......and it only costs about $20 to do.
Stevo
Because that is the ghetto way of doing things......and it only costs about $20 to do. Meh ... I would'nt really call it 'ghetto' ... just trying to keep the same level of appearance/function. The car was built with that part in mind and keeping the unit intact regardless that it works or not. 'Ghetto' would be building a pulley by slapping together an ad-hoc replacement or removing the unit and putting a substandard belt replacement in it's place. Canada
The same level of function would have the A/C working.....and was built with the A/C working in mind. Its not ghetto......you are doing EXACTLY what would of been done IF it could of been had without A/C.
