ritchierich1
Well, my girlfriend has been driving the car since I got my job an hour and a half away to work. No problems until now. She "says" that the anti lock brake was on.... the car would not take gas in drive, so she put it down into second so she could get the car to move....... she also said the speedometer was bouncing up and down between 35 to 85.........she made the car home and turned the car off. Now, when I try to start the car I hear a clicking sound and all the gauges flicker on and off...........My first thought would be a bad alternator/ battery. I just wanted to see if anybody else has had this kind of problem. Joel

GP1138
Remote positive nut. I'd check that first.
DiscoStudd
Remote positive nut. I'd check that first. Bingo! I had the same exact problems you're describing with my Regal last year. After I tightened the nut on the Aux Positive terminal, none of the "symptoms" have returned. I make sure to snug that nut down every once and a while just to be on the safe side... ritchierich1
Well, I checked the nut and the terminals on the battery, they were all tight. Turns out it WAS the alternator. Went to autozone and bought one with a lifetime warranty for $100.00.
