Jon89le
Starting last week my car started having starting problems which i chucked to my starter going. I would turn the key and nothing, no click. Then on like the 3rd try itd start. Its in a week its gotten exponentially worse. Then the other day at work it happen. I threw it in Neutral and it started, which is now how i have to start it most of the time. Is this my Park/Neutral saftey switch? If so, where is it located to be replaced? Any help is appreciated. dsgrntld187
I believe the P/N switch is on the top of the tranny, if I remember right. Mine does the same thing, and I believe thats what mine is also.
DiscoStudd
Yes, that sounds exactly like a P/N safety switch going out. IIRC, it's underneath the airfilter box (okay, not directly but you can see it a lot better if you remove the air box.) A Hayne's manual shows you how to change it out... 1990lumina
My car is the opposite. It will not start in neutral - it won't even click. When you have it in neutral and turn the key all the guages become active just like when you start it, but no crank... in park I've never had a problem with it not startingt hough... sorry to hijack though, back on topic
