glock19
How many volts was the alternator putting out? Measure the voltage with the car off. Should be around 12.6V or so. Turn the car on, the voltage should jump up to 13.5-14V and then gradually go down to 13.2 to 13.5. It is possible the alternator is putting out barely enough voltage to keep the battery charged, but if any accessories kick on, that voltage could drop quickly and trigger the light. DiscoStudd
Is your ABS light lit up before/during/after the battery light being lit? The sure sign of impending alternator failure on a late model GM is the ABS light lighting up a few minutes before the battery light (and it's always in that order, too...) White93z34
i'd say its on its way out, i've had cars do that to me before, change it before it leaves you somewhere.
