ghostwhite91
Got a 1990 GP SE that the steering wheel itself is loose/wobbling. Took apart column all the way back to the plastic ball coupler. Didn't really see a problem, but put it back together and still wobbly. Reason I thought I had it fixed is that the small ball bearing assembly was destroyed ( replaced it ) then I put it all back together. Any inherent problems further down the column that cause the steering wheel to become loose? Could it just be wear on the plastic ball coupler? jimmy91444
down by that plastic coupler, there is 4 small screw attaching the upper part to the lower part , those comes loose. If you have the tilt steering, you have to release the spring, then take off the 2 pin one on each side (the one that make the steering tilt). After that you sould see the screw. ghostwhite91
yeah, I went past that right to the coupler. Took the coupler apart to inspect but didn't really see anything wrong. THose 3-4 screws holding the next part were tight as well....
