cutlass1991
Do you guys think this is possible? IT would be a lot of custom work. I have a standard roof, and want to put the moonroof that came from the factory into my car. Do you think I could mount it, or was the roof different in cars that came with a moonroof from the factory(ie stronger?)
GnatGoSplat
The roof is very different. The opening is stamped into the roof sheetmetal and the edges are rolled. You would either have to replace the roof sheetmetal or cut and weld the opening part of the roof onto your roof. Either way, that's extreme $$$. It would be much easier to install an aftermarket one. The opening is a bezel that will fit into a hole cut into the roof. Some aftermarket ones are real good, the only way you can really tell that it's not factory is the black bezel (about 1/2" of black border) around the opening.
