91grandprixGT Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 Hi, I was just curious I see that someone has said something about a supercharger for a 3.1.... mind if I ask where I might find one of those, and the turbo setup what all would I need to yank, the crossover pipe, turbo (Of course) and intercooler, anything else? (New with this turbo stuff) Quote
topless94style Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 For turbocharging, you can rip apart a rare TGP if you want and put the turbo parts on your car. Otherwise, go all custom, learn how to read compressor maps and that sorta thing, pick out a good new turbo, and have someone help design the crossover and downpipe and hook it all up. These cars didnt come with a supercharger stock, but I am sure if you found the right one you could make it work. Quote
91grandprixGT Posted June 24, 2005 Author Report Posted June 24, 2005 I know they didnt come with superchargers but I have never been able to find one for a application such as the 3.1 and I seen someone else said you could I was wondering where from, I'm not gonna go turbocharge this thing cause I'm selling it, getting a 69chevelle ss and gonna restore it Quote

kingkn8 Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 well there are superchargers available for the 3100 but they are expensive like 4g plus and they are just the gtp superchargers that are fitted to fit the 3.1 mfi the 3400, the 2.8 mfi and the 3100. however i have see 95 gp with a turbo from an eagle talon he (turbo was free and the intercooler was too.) and he claims he only spent 600 in parts something to get it work and another couple of hundred getting the computer and turbo timer Quote
Psych0matt Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 I just saw a supercharged 3.1 over on the cavalier boards somewhere, I'll try and find it later Quote

Turbo is the way to go. Cheaper and you make more power. Although seeing a huge supercharger on a motor is just cool. Quote

Time for a rebuilt trans and 3000 stall converter for go fast time I'd stick w/ a stock converter if I were you Brian. I can flash the stock converter to 3K+ w/o a problem(3,000 was the highest I ever tried, from the way it felt, it may be possible to go higher than that since the turbo was just starting to build boost). I really think that you had a faulty converter in the car before since you have stated your car had little low end power. If that was the case, you would have experienced weak low end power along with poor fuel economy(from the converter not properly multiplying the torque output of the engine). Quote
