1990lumina
All of that price is labor I think. My fuel filter is underneath the car in front of the gas tank to the left in a circular housing. I've never changed it, but probably should. I don't know if yours is in the same spot, but it very well could be
GutlessSupreme
$190CND  even in Canuckistani money, that's way too much! It's like a 10 minute job! I don't know where they are on newer Ws but very likely they're in the same spot as the old ones like 1990lumina said.. should be in front of the fuel tank somewhere. Cam'ron
The dealer mentioned something about the passenger front inner fender having to be removed to do it???
GutlessSupreme
Damn maybe they did move it.. I knew GM couldn't keep things easy for us forever.
GP1138
It might be integrated into the fuel pump itself... let me check GM SI... Edit: your dealer is trying to rip you off. SI lists about 9 steps, and that's counting removal of each bolt as a step. It's easy as pie, do it yourself...
Tigershark
I could swear that the filter is right in front of your gas tank, all it takes is taking off a couple of clips or maybe a set of wrenches.. 5/8ths and a 13/16ths wont take more than five minutes, just remember to release pressure on the lines by opening up the gas cap. damn dealerships... skiiirt
Hey where in Edmonton are you? I can call my mechanic and ask him how much he would charge to do it.. Remember the dealers here work for around $90/hr
glock19
The dealer mentioned something about the passenger front inner fender having to be removed to do it??? RUN AWAY. The dealer is trying to screw you out of your cash and not using any KY.... The filter is in the rear or undeneath the car. I don't have my manual at work or I would look it up. GnatGoSplat
It appears to be in the same place as any other filter. The only bolt you need to remove is the one holding it to the bottom of the car. That dealer is trying to screw you for sure.
Ramma2
They want to charge you that much for the same reason they wanted to charge me 550$ to change the alternator on my car. And its the 3100 :?

Tigershark
I can call my mechanic and ask him how much he would charge to do it.. Dude, trust me, you don't need a mechanic to change it out.. I'm a manager at a lube shop and we change them all the time, all you need is a jack and maybe some wrenches5/8th&13/16thfor one side of the filter the other side should be held by a clip. by the way it should be changed out every 20,000 miles. no1kicker
Just remember to relieve the fuel pressure before removing the old one. Other than that, it shouldn't be hard.
