Guest Anonymous Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 I figured out what it was the first time I filled up. Dang Clever, in my opinion. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 I didn't read about my holder in the manual, i was filling up one day and was like, "hey, look at that" and put my gas cap in there. Used it ever since. Same here. Yeah, me too, that was 11yrs ago. I love the holder. I hate the tether on my truck. The holder is so much more convenient. I don't know about all GM's, but my truck's fuel door has a hook that you use to hang the tether on so the gas cap doesn't touch the body. The tether hook is probably another one of those things people don't notice. Quote
MonteC Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 Mine has a tether. If I did not have a tether, the gas cap would be used the prop the lever on the gas pump open so I don't have to hold it. Glock yeah i hate it when the pump nozzles dont have that little lever to make it stay and i have to use the cap. lol but i always though it was one of those things you just knew what it was? i thought everybody knew what that thing did... Aaron Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 Stupid Fiero doesn't have one, and I've already left the cap at a station! Quote
gp90se Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 and ya can put the gas cap under the handle of the gas pump if it doesnt have a tab to autofill, it will pop off when its full. Quote
manitcor Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 wow, just wow, common sence evades some it seems Quote
havinfun79 Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 I've always used it-the funny thing is, when my boyfriend would fill up the gas in my car, he would always lay the cap on the trunk-I just figured he didn't want to use the thing-then one day, while I was filling up the car I sat it there & he was like "hum, I didn't know that was even there." I just had to laugh a bit. Quote
J Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Your cap prolly has the teather on it. I'm like john the teather sucks scratches the car they have a hook for the teather so it doesn't scratch your car, i can't believe a few of you didn't know that was there! Quote
Aaron Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 There are a lot of things liek that. How long did it take you 90-94 Lumina guys to figure out the lighter/ashtray pullout thing? Took me a few months, and I found it by accident. And on my Fiero, had the guy not told me, I would've never figured out how to open the gas door. It is a little switch behind the driver's seat on the pillar, very easily missed. Quote

I don't think any of the 97-03 cars do. Quote
Prospeeder Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 my moms Grand am has that, thats what i was talkin about, a hook, u could makeshift one with superglue and plastic Quote
Donutboy97 Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 yeah i have the teather too. I'm ok with no scratched, I just worry about gas dripping on the side of the car. Quote

Forgiven X Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 Yeah sometimes people over look it, on my old 69 camaro i used to just lay the gas cap on the gas pump, for fear of scratching the paint. But I got my truck now i'm happy, But i don't use it. I will when i get it painted. Quote
z34_nut Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 I've always known abot the ashtray (first day I got it) then about a week to realized the gas cap holder. Quote
Oblivious Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 I discovered that about a week after I bought my car, and thought it was the greatest thing ever. The rest of my family still drove all Hondas at that point, so I wasn't used to things like this, heads up display, leather interior, torque with three digits, etc. Quote
buckethead Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 It took me a few times at the pump to realize it was there, but i usually don't use it... I just lay it on top of the trunk. funny thing is, I've never forgotten to put it back in, but my last car, with a teather, I forgot a couple of times to put that one back in and noticed in my sideview mirror while driving that it was flopping around in the wind. dsgrntld187 Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 I've always used the holder GM so graciously supplied us . BTW, I like the locking gas cap ;-). I love locking gas caps, but I hate how on my 6000 the door itself locks and you have to use a key to open it. Quote
dbtk2 Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 I've always known about it. My dad always used it when I was a kid as long as I can remember, so when I started driving it wasn't something I had to figure out because I had been watching him do it for so long. Shawn Quote
BurneroftheRice Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 Both my Buick and my truck have gas cap holders, I think they're a great and simple feature Quote
