taylerade Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 i've successfully replaced spark wires on the car -- all but one! the one i cant pull out is in the rear of the engine on the farther left side. i even had a mechanic try to pull it out. he said the only way was to unhook the dogbone and pull the engine forward making room in the rear. please somebody tell me theres an easier way?! Robby1870 Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 sorry, man there's not. Actually taking the dogbones off is not that bad only one bolt apiece. It makes the job so much easier to rotate the motor forward. Quote
89Cutlass Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 I think im the only one that can change the back plugs without rotating the motor. But i cut my arm everytime. I rigged up this wrench that will do it for me too. Quote
taylerade Posted February 1, 2003 Author Report Posted February 1, 2003 ok so it's got to be rotated... how? thanks in advance Quote
SEiZe Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 If you undo the two dogbones and get one of those nice nylon come-alongs, and pull the engine foward. You can gain 8-10 inches behind your motor. That is plenty of room to work with, so you don't have to cut yourself. 8) Quote
Brian P Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 You can also insert a medium sized prybar into the passenger side engine bracket (where the pass side dogbone bolts to) and pull it forward, though the nylon comealong is a great idea. It only takes about 3 minutes to tilt the engine, and it's so much easier to work back there! Quote
Robby1870 Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 or like me, you could just cut your arm up b/c I had nothing to help me rotate the engine, so I still have cuts on my arms from last week. Quote
Red94Regal Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Napa makes a special wrench assy. for removing rear plugs for that motor, check your local store. Quote
