RenegadeZ
I was watchin "Trucks" on spike & they showed a new turbo by "STS", it mounts where the muffler goes (replaces muffler). Talk about a sleeper. Anyone else see that? I was thinking tha filters would have to be cleaned often with that location. Anyone else see/heard of that? slick
My only problem with it is the air filter location. Granted, it's probably getting cooler air, but all the other shit that hits the underside of the vehicle, probably not good for it.
RenegadeZ
Yea, I was thinking tha same thing...
Tru2Chevy
Most people just run a K&N and use a pre-filter with a splash guard. That keeps them in pretty good shape. There is a guy on thirdgen.org who fabbed his own rear mount turbo on a 2.8 cavi with 175k-ish miles and ran low 14's easy. - Justin
timg
STS kits are good, real front mount kits are better (assuming that they don't just use a bad log manifold). I really hope somebody does a test of a STS kit versus a normal kit some day. Tim

Tim I can see the throttle response on a normal front kit being way better than that rear mounted thing being that the air has a much farther distance to travel to get to the engine. Reminds me almost as though someone took that stupid ricer idea of putting that thing in your muffler to sound like a turbo, and said screw it and just built a turbo where the muffler goes. jeremy
I like the idea, it is perfect for those cars that the engine bays are too cramped for a turbo....I was seriously considering doing this to the SHO if I had kept it...
