Parking brake wont release

skiiirt

Recommended Posts

I cannot get my parking brake to release. I am going to drive it into my garage and see if I cant find any problems (more than likely not) but I have a haynes manual beside me

When I pull the lever the lines running along the driver side do no move.

The lever seems to be useless as I can just pull on it and it has no tension.

Any help is appreciated.. I cannot go to my mechanic as I dont want to fuck my car up completely, well atleast the brakes...

Thanks

do you use it alot? because you prolly streched it and now the cable has no tension. I f the parking brake is stuck and you cant release it wouldnt it hard to drive, cuz that would mean the rar calipers and pushing on the rotor? or am I reading wrong  but check the rear calipers too

Ok so basically the cable was releasing but not fully. I played with the lever and i saw that the brake light was flickering. Tightened it up behind the carpet way at the back and she went away.

I do not believe the parking brake will absolutely hold the car back. Unless I've driven cars with shitty e-brakes. The civic will move forward but it has trouble. Never tried nor will I try it in the Bravada.

when the e-brake in my Probe locked up, the right rear wheel wouldn't move at all, it just got dragged behind the car.

depends on how good your e-brake is too. I hit the e-brake going down my street, not very fast, maybe about 10, 15max and both rear tires locked up. I cant even pushed it to the floor. it stops about 2/3 way down.
