patgizz
ugh. my new stereo is not doing what its supposed to. it worked fine for a week. the amp is a power acoustik gothic series 640x4. it is bridged per the instruction manual into a pair of pioneer 400w 12's. this is the setup i had in my lumina, and it worked flawlessly in that car for over a year. however, it is in the caddy now. this morning i had no sound from the subs. i did all the checks, ground wire, the light is on on the amp, 12 volts to the battery terminal and the terminal from the stereo's blue wire is powered and the amp is turning on. the RCA's are new, and plugged in snugly. i unplugged them and ran a spare set from head unit to amp to see if they maybe got cut when i pulled them under the carpet but no dice. speaker wires nice and tight on the amp. is my amp fried? can i do any tests? it is being used on channels 1 and 2. can i hook it up the same way on 3 and 4 and swap the rca's to the ins for 3 and 4, flip the switch over to 4ch and expect it to work? slick
Pull the amp out and smell it. You will know what toasted electronics smell like if it is fried. Otherwise, try it on channel 3 and 4. Should work just the same as on channel 1 and 2. EDIT: Also, check to make sure that for some ungodly reason the settings didn't magically get turned down.
