New Exhaust

Recommended Posts

I am going to a few local shops to get prices on a "performance" exhaust.

I am planning on using these specs:

2.5" 304 Stainless Steel piping

2.5" Magnaflow Resonators

Magnaflow Oval Street Series Stainless Steel Universal Muffler With Tips

this is for a 3.4L

What do you guys think?

stainless is sortta pointless if you ask me, unless your doing a show car, or a high hp car and have a few bucks into it, just save some cash and do alumanized (spelling is way off on that one!) it'll be much cheaper.

Plus many shops don't have the mandrel bender to do it, so why waste ss pipe with crush bends? My buddy owns a shop and the shop next door is a muffler place and the mandrel bender with dies up to 3 inch was like $70,000. SO don't get your hopes up on a place being able to do it cheap. Not tryin to be a dick, just setting you up for what you should expect when you go looking for estimates. Later Jay

Good luck

Why not DO the stainless, AND the mandrel bends?

I most certainly would.

Just buy some 45 deg, 90 deg or J/U bends in T304 from Burns stainless (or even better, somewhere a little cheaper  ) and get a competant shop to weld it up. Anybody with any welding talent at ALL (be careful...many muffler shop monkey's can NOT weld worth a shit) should be able to weld you up a very nice mandrel bent setup for not much more than the cost of crush bent.

That way you get performance, looks AND longevity (the thread originator DOES live in the snow belt after all...kinda :) ).
