kadeas
I notice today that the motor won't rev over 4000 rpm when in park. does this car have a rev. limiter on it? I've been having an egr code pop up every now n then, could it have something to do with that? The ses light wasn't on while I experienced this though. Canada
Yep...thats the park/neutral rev limiter. What EGR code is setting? If its a performance code....its most likely dirty.
kadeas
It was a code 77, digital egr #3 solenoid. I just took egr valve and the tube it connects to off today and cleaned them the best I could. I used carb cleaner and a toothbrush. What's the easyest way to clean the middle of that tube? Do you just spray cleaner in it and hope it washes everything out? Also I noticed today that I don't even have to press the brake pedal to put it in gear. Damn, if I could spend one day just enjoying my car instead of working on it I wouldn't know what to do with myself! :? Oh, I have yet to test drive the thing to see if the light comes back on. I'll let ya know.
19Cutlass94
when I cleaned that same spot, I used the cleaner and bent a metal clothes hanger to break up the carbon in there. Worked pretty good.
Canada
Good.....but if the code does come back, you'll have to replace the valve. Worth a shot though.

Worth a shot though. ^^ Deffinatly worth a shot, I mean 30 mins of your time and you can clean it for free. or you can spend the what 350 for a new EGR valve like I did and still have the code come back because the port wasnt clean. But if you clean the port, I doubt the code will come back.
kadeas
Well, I used a coat hanger too but I couldn't get it but about a quarter of the way in on each side. The end of the coat hanger kept getting stuck on the ribs. Now the bad news, light came on. I'm gonna check the wires first, then replace if need be.
