bryandj23
Here's a doozie... 1991 GTP w/3.4 - 131,000 miles. Just had new timing chain, tune up, catalytic converter, exhaust, and various other parts replaced. This part still perplexes me: No particular pattern has been noticed with this problem - although it seems to happen each time I go out and start it up (about every 2-3 weeks) as I lost my license for a few months. Service Engine Soon light comes on - I haven't scanned the codes recently, and don't remember what they were before, but while the light is on, the Rev limited that normally cuts the engine at 3k while at Zero MPH doesn't work --- UNLESS the car is in DRIVE. Yep - can't get the car over 3,000 RPM in drive...(dropping to 2nd gear helps, though). In reverse, no rev limited. In park or neutral - no rev limited. In Drive - Rev Limiter. So, I open up the hood, stick a screwdriving undrer the coolant recovery tank, and lightly tap on the ECM. Car Stalls. Start back up, and everything's A-OK. So, before I go and hook up a solenoid with a little push arm attached to a button on the dash that will tap on the ECM while I'm going down the road, does anyone have some suggestions as to where to look on this? Some sensor in the tranny, I would assume?
jeremy
could be a faulty Park/Neutral switch
slick
could be a faulty Park/Neutral switch Thats what I was thinking.
bryandj23
Would this be in the tranny or in the column?
jeremy
I think it sits on top of the trans on the drivers side

bryandj23
Definately not Bosch. Genuine AC plugs and Wires that were replaced about 1,000 miles ago.
