J Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 Well i had a friend of mine look up the impedence of the injectors for a 1990 3.1 and a 1990 TGP and the na's ran at 12.1 the tgps were at 12.4. So my question is, can i run my stock injectors for a turbo set up? Thanks in advance guys Jay Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 I wouldn't recommend it. The 3.1 NA injectors don't flow enough. Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 I think the TGP injectors flow 2lbs higher than n/a 3.1, and the 3.4's flow another lb higher (23?) Quote
J Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 so in other words grab a set of 3.4 injectors? Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 i've heard the NA 3.1 injectors are 19lbs and the TGP injectors are 22lbs. Quote
White93z34 Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 i got a spare set of LQ1 injectors... Quote
gp90se Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 GutlassSupreme is running 3.4 injectors in his TGP, the spray pattern is unique with 3.4 injectors (or so ive been told), but they seem to run pretty good. EDIT: 91-93 LQ1 injectors are 22# or 23# Quote
J Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 i got a spare set of LQ1 injectors... what year? and what type of mileage was on them?> Quote
maybe2fast Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 if the 3.1 and the 3.4 computers are the same it would fire the injectors at the same pattern between a 3.1 and 3.4...I think LQ1 injectors will work great Quote
gp90se Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 the 3.1 and 3.4 chip programming is very different, but that has nothing to do with using LQ1 injectors in an LG5 motor. Quote
J Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 so in other words what should i do about the injector situation? Quote
gp90se Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 get the set of injectors off white93Z34, your stock injectors are pretty much maxed out under stock use, so adding boost would push them beond what they can do. Also might want to go with a walbro fuel pump, or at least a stock TGP/ 90-91 vette fuel pump. Quote
J Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 planned on the pump, but thanks for reminding me! Thanks for the info And if anyone finds a DP or TURBO with fittings and lines let me know Quote
White93z34 Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 they are from a 92' 3.4, 137,xxx on them, i gotta test them yet to be sure they are good. Quote
mfewtrail Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 Stock 3.1 MPFI injectors are 16.6# according to Vegeta. Quote
Jcrow Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 3800 series II injectors flow the same as tgp injectors, but might have a different spray pattern as they are bosch not multec Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted June 1, 2005 Report Posted June 1, 2005 Jay (god910) is using L36 injectors in his TGP, but i guess a custom fuel rail mount is needed. maybe he will see this post and elaborate.... Quote
J Posted June 2, 2005 Author Report Posted June 2, 2005 so does anyone have any injectors for me? Quote
Jcrow Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 I got a couple sets from EBAY - You can use Ford chrysler or gm ones! just as long as its not those new skinny kind. Quote
topless94style Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 The LQ1 spray pattern is designed if i remember correctly from the picture in the book, to spray into the ports on the head so it flows down to each intake valve evenly. Quote
