EuroSedan93 Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 Tonight on the way home from work the euro was making a very loud taping noise, i know that the engines are suppose to make a klicking noise when they idle because of the valves, but this sounds a hell of a lot worse, and I have no idea what it is. Does anyone know what it could be? Quote

JoroCorona Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 tapping could be something top end or bottom end. Need some more info about when its happeneing, about where its coming from and such. If its just a tapping I doubt its your rod. Rods have much louder knock to them. Quote

EuroSedan93 Posted May 27, 2005 Author Report Posted May 27, 2005 Well needless to say it had gotten a lot worse, and now the engine shakes violently, stalls nearly every time I hit the gas or keep it idling, and it sounds more of a clanking now. I took it to my garage and they are saying it could be a camshaft, dead cylinder, and it most likely needs a rebuild. Quote

joey b Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 test the voltage at the ICM coming from the crank sensor. You will have to put a millivolt meter in and have someone turn it over. Quote
EuroSedan93 Posted June 2, 2005 Author Report Posted June 2, 2005 I believe the problem may have come from a bad spark plug. I am replacing them tomorrow, found one on #6 that was messed up not producing a spark, which probably explains my problem. Dead cylinder. Quote

BEST case its something stupid like a spark plug, but that dosen't expain the noise, and then a pushrod may have jumped. but worst and most likey, your engine is cooked, rebuild time. Quote

EuroSedan93 Posted June 2, 2005 Author Report Posted June 2, 2005 Well the shop just called me, dead cylinder on #6 I believe, they did a compression test and it only had 30 psi. so needless to say its kinda messed. Looking into a rebuild or just getting them to drop a 3.4 in it Quote

I thought it was, but I didnt want to tinker with it because i'm not too well versed in the 3.1 area. 2.2 I can do no problem. Since i'm not going to be spending an arm and a leg on the engine now, look for some very heavy mods coming this summer! I'm so happy now. the euro's back. Got sik of driving a sunfire. Quote

Does my car look like a cavalier? lol I didnt think so, so they can have those mods. My main mods are going to be a custom two tone paint job on the car, rims, probably lower it, and a bunch of custom stuff that I am doign myself. I could care less about the go factor of the car, its fast enough for me. All I care about is appearance. Quote
