sonyman87
READ THIS Toplessstyle94 I love to see the work your doing to your car is really sweet! but befor you even consider getting on the gas with that thing. DO some transmission work!!! My trany wants to fail with 240crank HP or more? Lookinto transmission coolers! and watch it closely. a turbo 3.4dohc is going to murder the stock transmission. HAHA ya...... about that. Before I ran out of money, i was going to recondition the bottom end and do some work to the tranny while it was all out of the car, but i ran out of money!! Thats why this damn thing decided to take 4+ months longer than i thought to finish. Im really close now so ill just have to deal with the tranny when the time comes. I got this second job over the summer and its really helping me catch up on my bills and it feels good to pull my ass out of debt. I just got into the UofM and have to worry about that as my next big bill. I have plans already for this winter to start saving for a new transmission. As for the fuel, I have an 8:1 FMU right now and i set up the system sorta like aaron did on his Z. After reading the thread about the fuel lines popping off, ill be redesigning that, dont know how or with what yet though. I would like to know how Tim did the fuel system on his turbo 3.4 though too. Once I get the car up and running ill worry about the fuel pump and injectors. They are on top of the list of things to do when the car is running lol. I think at max boost with the FMU the injectors will be around 90% duty cycle so ill see how that goes. Besides saving for the transmission this winter, ill be collecting parts to tap into that computer and see what I can do in there tuning wise. Speaking of the fuel system, I think i remember reading in that thread about aarons old Z that you can get quick disconnects and put them onto your own fuel lines? If that is so where can i get these babies. be sure to document your work on fuel custom computer with the obd1.5 and misc need to know info. a future project may be similar to what you have now and for fuel connectors look here http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/CategoryDisplay?cgmenbr=361&cgrfnbr=509 the only part of the fuel system i now of being a quick connect is the fuel injectors. timg
I used rubber fuel line from my metal lines to the FMU and then onto the fuel rail. It's double clamped and has had zero signs of leaks. The FMU is complete crap after 7-8 psi though. I currently have a split second FTC1 that I'm using for fuel and ignition timing. It's quite good, but I'll be upgrading to 96 ECU + DHP PowrTuner + AEM UEGO. Tim
topless94style
Its a slow work in progress. The exhaust is complete, but I have to make a change on the downpipe to squeeze it in there. The alcohol injection is installed. Still a decent amount of work left, sucks that it has taken this long, come mid november it will be a year that the car has not been ran, . I miss it needless to say, but soon it should be done. Its a pain in the ass attending the UofM taking 15 credits, working 5 days a week, 35hrs at one job, and 15 at the other. Trying to pay off bills and finish this car. I have wednesday mornings only to work on my car now since school has started so the lack of time has really been the biggest opponent in getting this god damn project done. topless94style
its been a long cold winter. I have spent all of my time at work, and in school. As an update, there has been no work done to the car. I recently took a leave from one job in order to better concentrate at school. That is my primary focus as of now. March 17, will be my last payment on my car loan. From there on out, I will have alot of extra money to put towards bills. By the time they are paid off, it will be getting warm enough again to start working on this beast. The poor top is in such bad condition that the snow is soaking the carpet. I needed to replace it anyway, but after over a year of not driving my car, im only worried about getting it road worthy for the summer. I have not been on here in such a long time, that I didnt see Tim's numbers for his monte. I saw them last night, and I must say they are freaking awesome for a turbo with big ass exhaust and a stock motor. I cant wait to get mine done to see what it will pull. From what I know thus far, I have gone further with internal engine mods than Tim, and added alcohol injection to help even more. Im excited to get this done and see how my inexperienced custom fab work with my crazy ideas will turn out compared to Tims work.

topless94style
Not gonna lie, the custom fab failed me. I had EVERYTHING done by July. Started bolting up all the exhaust and POP. Snapped a weld. Pulled it all out, and its going back to stock...for now. Im nearing the end of college and have been concentrating on that more than I have been worrying about my car. Hopefully I can come back on here and start learning more stuff with you guys soon again, but for now I gotta put my car back to stock because I am moving out of my parents house and they want the car gone. Over the last 6 months I have met a couple guys big into customing fabbing, one does alot of work for a local corvette racing team. Down the road, MAYBE next summer seeing how themoney situation goes I can have him do the welding and have it done by someone that knows what they are doing. That was my failure, and that is my warning to those of you wanting to take this project on without welding experience.....DONT. Oh well, live and learn. slick
I've been wondering about updates for a while. In fact, Psychomatt was just inquiring your SN a few weeks ago. Sucks that it didn't work out for ya, but you got a lot farther along than most peoples "Future Projects" that never happen. I know I'm guilty . topless94style
i was also hoping it would be done, too bad i couldnt come through with it. sucks. i just hope to drive it soon, its been 2 years.....way too long. i just wanna drive it now. With out the turbo, ill still have the P&P heads, lighter lifters, polished valves and pistons, the basic bolt ons and ill probably still hook up the alcohol injection see what that does.
