fastbird232 Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 When I bought my SE out of that farmer's field, I noticed the car won't brake for shit and the "BRAKE" light is always on. Oh, and the parking brake lever won't budge an inch. Short of taking it to a mechanic, how do I unstick it? Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 I'll bet the rear calipers are siezed....as is the parking brake cable that runs from the driver's side to the passenger side. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 check the rear calipers to see if they locked up then if thats not it, check the linkage where the e-brake is Quote
fastbird232 Posted May 24, 2005 Author Report Posted May 24, 2005 How do I go about unsticking them all? Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 if the rear calipers are locked up, you would have to buy new ones or reman. ones. The e-brake linkage, Im assuming that its a floor e-brake and you would just have to take the linkage off/apart and see whats causing it to bind up, if thats whats causing it Quote
5speedz34 Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 See if the e-brake in stuck onto the "on" position on the caliper itself and get a hammer and pound it back down to "off". Then replace to 94+ Quote
fastbird232 Posted May 24, 2005 Author Report Posted May 24, 2005 94+ rear discs=direct drop in? Quote
cutlsp Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 the rear brakes won't seize up if they get used every once in a while :? Quote
5speedz34 Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 94+ you need the calipers, caliper mounts, and rotors, and all mounting hardware. EVERYTHING bolts in, and it stops 10x better. Quote
