Jostran911
I am way to new to this FWD GM< stuff...I am swapping a 3.1 in a 91 CS with a 3100 out of a 94 Olds. the issue I have a question on is transmission. the 91 uses a TV cable and I do not see one on the 94 does this mean I have to use the 91 tranny and will it bolt to the 94 3100 thanks Jack
twind
YOU WILL HAVE TO USE YOU'RE 91 TRANS. THE 94 IS ELECTRONIC THE KICKDOWN IS ALSO ELECTRIC. Now he anwser to question0. the 91 will work on the 3100, the only thing you will have to do cut the kick down cable aT THROTTLE body. so the kickdown is fully extended at wide open throttle. Guest TurboSedan
you'll also have to use the '91 engine wiring harness and ECM. should be a matter of just extending some wires for the coilpacks etc. the 3100 won't be SFI anymore. twind
You will need tyo extend, the coilpacks, cms, sensor, IAC( makes it easier to plug in rather then streaching it) TPS sensor also. you will have to pull the knock sensor wire back and. you will need the down pipe for the exhaust also, the splice you'res together. twind
it would be easier to get the down pipe off a car with a 3100 and cut it where it bolts together usally about 5 feet back. Then cut the bolt flange off and get some 2 1/4 adators and weld your old exhaust and the new down pipe back together.
