Birchmount, Flex-a-Form, or Coilovers?

Which is best for a rear drop on my Cutlass? I know Shawn wasn't happy with FAF, and from what I can tell he doesn't seem to understand the question how much is the drop (he keeps telling me the price..). So, which of the 3 choices is going to give me a drop that would make my car look about equal with the Intrax front springs? I need to figure this out before I install the front springs. Has anyone had experience with the Birchmount spring? I know a lot of people say coilovers ride rough or whatever, but do they work? Oh yeah.. which is cheaper?

2" for the Birchmount was the drop decided to match the Intrax. It's all in the groupbuy section if you want to read through 20something pages worth of posts.

Did anyone ever get any pics posted with an Intrax front and Birchmount rear combo? I really wanted to see how they went together. I'm getting in on the next round of the Intrax group buy but need to decide on how I'll tackle the rear.

My plan is to first see how the front with Intrax springs matches the slightly sagged rear. Then if needed I'm going to go with either a Birchmount or making a visit to one of the 2 shops around here who make metal replacement leafs for w-bodies to see if they can make one that will match the front drop.

Are Birchmount still taking orders for the rear leaf?

Who, me?

I don't remember you asking me about the FAF spring.

From the pic in your sig, you will get zero drop with the FAF spring.

Not you, George from FAF doesn't understand the question, sorry if there was any confusion Shawn  . I asked how much would it drop, and he said 299.00

hey people i have a 94 cutlass sl, and canat seem to find a way to drop the rear, right now im stuck with a 2 inch drop in the front and the rear is just a little bit higher since the schocks are worn out, when i get new shocks tho, it will raise tha car even more from the rear which will make it look funny, i went to autozone and they told me about some springs they sell that fit around the schocks, then i guess those could be clamped together, so that the schock can be lowered......will it work or what should i do? i really need help in this, thanks

i really don't think new rear struts will raise your car at all, since the new struts simply can't 'push' the rear of the car upwards against the weight of the car itself. the rear spring is what determines the ride height, struts just control the oscillation of the spring and of course ride quality. it's your worn stock monoleaf that is causing it to sag in the rear, which is very common on these cars.

spring clamps will not work on a 1st GEN W-body such as your '94 Cutlass. the rear spring on these cars is a transversely mounted fiberglass monoleaf, not a coil spring on each side like other cars have. i would not consider the FAF monoleaf "lowering" spring; just look at Shawn's car - it barely even lowered it at all. if i were to lower another W-body, i would still be split between the Birchmount spring and FFP coilovers. they both have their own advantages and disadvantages.
