joey b
I got some front knuckles off of a car in the boneyard, so I don't have the numbers to look at all for the car options. Is there any way to find the spring rate of these springs? Also, at 13 years of age I don't think that my front springs have the tag on them any more. Any way of finding the spring rate for these? (RPO codes?) Do the spring rates matter much and do they vary much? I'd bet they they may be different rates. The springs I just got were from a 3.1 lumina. Without thinking I threw them on because I thought that being newer they would be stiffer. Would it be worth the work of pulling the new ones off and putting my old ones back on if there were a spring difference?
94CutlassSLCoupe
I would imagine your original 3.4 DOHC car springs would be stiffer than any 3.1 Lumina...I'd imagine your car handles a little different now.
joey b
I just found that my old springs were FTX. These are about 4 ratings higher than the FUZ springs that I have noticed are often spoken of. A higher rating means that the car handles better but doesn't ride as smooth, right? Is there much of a chance of a 3100 equipped car having anything close or firmer? What is the typical spring rate that people switch from to go the the FUZ? Now that is just for lowering the car but if probably doesn't handle as well because the springs are not as stiff, right?

jdcutty
If you lower the car, there will be a difference in handling no matter what the spring rate is, because you lower the Center of gravity. The lower spring rate would effect the "bouncyness" or smoothness of the ride.
