joey b
I just got done doing the front brake swap. I currently have sensatracs all around. They told me that they would have to put camber bolts in to adjust the back. Is there even a toe to adjust on the rear? If so they charged me for a 4 wheel even though they only did a 2. They swore that the sensatracs were not adjustable. I told them that one of the holes was oblong. They came back to me 10 minutes later telling me once again that the holes were not oblong. I then told them that I had sensatracs installed. They once again told me that there was not an adjuster hole. I made them get one out of their inventory and guess what...It had an oblong hole. The bottom hole on the rear is slightly oblong. How much do the rears have to move to get correct camber? Is that hole enough? On another point. Front camber. When you put springs on a car do they need to settle? They told me that they would have to drill out holes in my strut towers to adjust that. That would cost me 30 bucks a side. They told me that if I did not have them do that then the alignment would not be warranteed and they would not adjust it after the springs settle. After much confustion they then told me that they only had to drill out One side. My caster still had numbers that did not match the specs. So...My questions are Is the hole on the sensatracs enough to adjust rear camber? Do Front springs settle? Did they have to drill holes in the strut towers to adjust camber? What is caster and is it adjustable? BTW, the work was done at Belle Tire and I will not be returning for future work.

dohc v6
i just went to get a alignment and they said the same thing. you have to drill out the tower plate screws a certain way. what they told my was the drivers side was not coming out far enough and the holes had to be inlarged. now the make the holes bigger you have to either get a punch to make a perfect slot or use a demel. i did my drivers side not bad but i am going to try to get it aligned tomorrow. and make sure they tell you waht side most of the time it is only one. and if i were you let gm do it or the other place will hack it up. i read the factory manual and it gives specks to enlarge it. but enlarging means toslot it more not to make the hole bigger. or you can buy shims. DaveFromColorado
okay... here's some simple answers... you do NOT drill anything to adjust camber. Yes the rears are adjustable (tow, and camber - but it's a PAIN in the ass on w-bodies) here's a webpage that has some of the BEST information about alignments I've seen in a LONG time... http://www.familycar.com/alignment.htm Hope that helps some ... --Dave. GnatGoSplat
You have to elongate the strut tower holes to adjust camber on the front. Caster would be the same. The rear requires elongation of the bottom strut hole.
