digitaloutsider
There's a 3.1/282 Crapalier at the yard, and I'm temped to go pull it, but I'd like to know if the shifter linkages are the same. I know the halfshafts are different, and I'll need the W-body clutch setup, but what about these linkages?
brianteel
you can not use the 282 trans unless it has the torque....the axles will hit the subframe. i thought about that....to my knowledge the linkage is the same though
Canada
The J and L 282 has different gearing than the W 282. Getrag 282 2.8/3.1 (J and L) 1st 3.50 2nd 2.05 3rd 1.38 4th 0.94 5th 0.72 FDR 3.61 Getrag 282 2.8/3.1 (W) 1st 3.77 2nd 2.19 3rd 1.38 4th 1.03 5th 0.81 FDR 3.61 I don't know much about the W 282.....but the linkages (cables and bushings) on my 1991 284 are different than my roomates 1988 L 282.
