mihela816
It can cause extra heat build-up when the TCC is not engaged. Plus you lose a few MPG's.

GutlessSupreme
is the heat build up in the tranny or motor ? but will it harm the tranny Both, techically. The motor will be reving higher in 4th gear and the tranny will be spinning faster as well. Yes, it will harm it over time.
JS91Z34
you don't want to unplug the TCC unless you have no other choice. That extra heat is bad on that tranny, or any tranny for that matter. Some tranny just take it better than others.
Tru2Chevy
Yea, I've had it unplugged for about 6 years on my '91 (3.1/3sp auto), put about 75k-80k miles on it since then, and the tranny still shifts fine and the fluid looks good. As long as you keep up with your maintenence, it won't be a big deal. - Justin
