Thinking about changing the type of SCer

I have a full paxton NOVI kit sitting here for a mustang that I was gonna convert fo the lumina, but I was thinking about ripping up an old intake plenum and using a junkyard M90 and building a roots kit. And that way, whatever the L67 guys can do with their SCers, I can do with mine. Make it alittle easier to make power.

Good idea or no?

The M90 would work fine, you'll likely have clearance issues(hood) unless you change your mind and remote mount the M90 like I've mentioned doing in similar/past threads. BTW, what size is the Paxton sc you mentioned?

Yeah the m90 is bigger then that paxton i believe.

I'm not sure how to compare "sizes" of the two superchargers, but I know that even the smallest centrifugal paxton sc's are more capable than the M90.

EDIT: I found some info stating the M90 puts out a max of 520cfm @ 12,000rpms. The smallest paxton supposedly can push up to 820cfm.

Mine is a NOVI-2000RR. It should flow 1700 cfm. I am very worried about the parasitic losses of this SCer though. I've heard very bad things about the reliability of this supercharger too.

I was thinking of a cowl hood and mount the SCer on the back of the intake plenum. Start wish a junkyard m90 and then use maybe a whipple or a twinscrew.

Holy hell! What ya' gonna do if you use the Novi? Run like 3-4psi max? I would stick with the M90 unless you're wanting to dump a lot of money into your DOHC to withstand that Paxton SC. If I were you, I would proably start with the M90 since that will be the cheapest route for you, and then maybe upgrade to a whipple when the time comes. I would seriously consider remote mounting the supercharger and relocating the battery, that way, no modifications to the intake/plenum are necessary. You would need a few custom pieces to do this though(outlet/adapter for the sc to plumb it into the intake tract, driveshaft for the sc to extend it to be inline with your accessory belt, and maybe some other stuff like custom mounts to hold up the sc and all).

Yeah, but with that setup I'm still stuck with the shitty intake that the motor has anyways. I want to shorten the runners to help out with the powerband.
