5speedz34
talk to hyeboy he has 2 AWD 6000's... And how would that help him? We already know those trans blow for anything else than a 2.8/3.1.
streetdreams
ya it would be cool to see "the only" awd w body, BUT you gotta look at these POS awd systems before you decide they'd be a great contender for an AWD w body set up. versa track is garbage, you put your foot in it and its gonna break, the astro's arent much better. I mean really these systems were designed where the worst abuse would be say pulling a boat. theyre not like a subaru AWD with fancy clutches and heat resistant parts to withstand constant blasts uphill. it would be a nigtmare to make this idea feasable in real time
JoroCorona
*Laughs Maniacly as he pulls a 4T65-E and transfer case into his storage unit* It shall be done my master.
joberlee
the astro's arent much better. I mean really these systems were designed where the worst abuse would be say pulling a boat Having grown up driving these vans, I have to disagree. It is the same FULL TIME AWD system as used in the typhoon, cyclone and bravada. The last one we had was a 93' Safari, sold it with 178k on it. It would still slam everyone back in there seats when you put your foot in it and would run up to the limiter (100 mph) with no problem. Now back to topic, the versatrack is not a bad system. It is not a performance based awd though. It is built to react to front wheel slipage and help you to not get stuck. It works very well as it is built, but for a high performance application in a w-body I really can't see where the benefit would be to make it worth all the work. The system is 100% fwd until the front wheels spin faster than the rear wheels. Then it kicks in the rear wheels until the wheel speeds become the same again. So the only real benefit would be not spinning the tires off the line.
JoroCorona
So it would let me launch harder. All the more reason.
joberlee
as long as the transfer case doesn't come apart.
