Guest TurboSedan Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 heat shrink tubing!!!!! using black electrical tape to cover splices is a hack job. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 Solder & heat shrink. Only way I ever do it. Quote
Intlcutlass Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 I really wanna get me one of those AA battery powered "Cold Heat" guns... Maybe I'll get one for Fathers day.... Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 I've heard the tips are real fragile on those. I think someone here had one, maybe Luke? Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 i use a Bernzomatic pen torch. works awesome for soldering wires together!! i only use my soldering gun for circuit boards. Quote
rshissler Posted May 14, 2005 Author Report Posted May 14, 2005 i solderd my wires together with my gun but iwas wonder what i could wrap them with. Is there anywhere i can just single size packs of like 40 or so of the heat shrink? cuz radio shack only has the packs with different sizes in them Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 I think you can get it pretty cheap from Harbor Freight if there's a store local to you. Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 i buy mine from Ace Hardware - a brand called GB i believe or something like that. they have packs of all the same sizes, as well as packs with various sizes. just be sure to put the shrink tubing over the wire before you splice Bernzomatic pen torch works great for heat shrinking the tubing as well after you splice. rshissler Posted May 14, 2005 Author Report Posted May 14, 2005 that too i think that the sound is from wires gettin to close to each other without tape between them Quote
