Hey Jeff M!

I have been dieing too 8) , to finish one of my cars and get to drive it, been 4 years since I got to work on and drive one of my TGPs/TSTE  . Since the "kit" is in a TSTE and running now, I worked on and sold off the other 4-door (old 98  ) so for now just driving the TSTE as much as I can doing the engine break-in, mainly rings right now as the magnetic oil drain pan plug shows zip for wear metals (oil analysis kits are on order from WearCheck). So, still breaking in the engine while I work out one last drivability issue then, swap to syn oil and start power tuning. Need to first baseline this T3 Super 60 wheel with the T28 turbine side, back pressure before and after the turbo, then some mods to see how much I can bring down the backpressure, already known to be an issue on the last few motors I set up like this for owners, then if the mods are good then tune the rest though I still am waiting on a few turbo shops to see if they can find those turbine housings they said existed, some odd ones out of diesel cars from Europe, much better A/R on the exhaust side and I believe will be better than the mods I want to try. Then there are 2 other complete turbos I want to try that will require some mods to fit/no longer bolt-right-in like these first 2 approaches, but not bad mods to get to fit, I just want to keep it simple so more guys can get into the kit and run some mid 13’s, maybe faster. Base line all 4 of these approaches to see what’s best for the setup, then swap out the exhaust and retest all 4 setups, then send the final setup and chip to the other owners who already have this setup to get some logged runs from them and confirm the results. Lots of work but I don’t want to just grab any bigger turbo and say its good, like a cam, you have to play with different turbos to see what works the best for the engine setup, and before I recommend anyone spend their hard earned cash on!! So I will know in the next few months how close all this is getting to a “kit†form, looking mainly for the hottest part of the year to do the most critical testing and tuning, hot air is where tuning must be safest. I have temp and pressure taps before and after the intercooler so will see if that becomes an issue with all this extra air flow :) , I know bigger is always better but from these readings will know if its enough of an issue to check into an upgrade, seen a core that with a new casting to match our hose arrangement, will bolt in and has twice the capacity, again looking at something simple that works and bolts-in.

So it will be this year, sooner the better I hope as I have another TGP with stock motor I want to test these 4 turbos on to see what I can get away with on it, simpler for owners to do than the heads with the above kit!! See if the 22lbs can hang for a while, then swap to larger injectors. Then need to do the aluminum build-up for the other TGP, short stroking that motor, which is sure to sound odd to some, but it will be a very fast setup, just need to be a few tenths slower than my bud Curtis as I like him being the fastest LG5, and I know he will keep making it faster so I can keep increasing my times, mid 12s will be plenty for a street driven FWD, only saving grace is few FWD cars come stock with 245mm tires (Nitto Street Drag Radials  ) like ours, that is hugely in our favor :D .

Well really? :D I see so often European shops listing turbos for sale on eBay, but never show they offer parts, which is all I need, a turbine housing with our same 5-bolt pattern or one close to it, guess I better search their web sites for emails but all the contacts here in the states that had called Garrett in Europe had to use translators and still said all turbines in the line of what I needed were no long made. I needed the casting mold to make more but those were gone too. If there is a batch of turbine housings there that are done then that works too!! Let’s start a PM if you have some time so we can approach this, but do you have a TGP or TSTE over there to confirm the bolt pattern matching?? I really want to keep the same bolt pattern and internal wastegate so when I find which turbine housing works with the wheels and housing I already have tested, owners can just bolt it in. From the history of owners (and anyone in general but more so our majority of owners) the simpler and cheaper the better, and I agree :) !!
