OK i just bought a 91 grand prix se 3.1 auto .. the tranny is bad and needs to be replaced.. It is a 4t60 what cars and engin packages came with this transmision.. I went to the local junk yard and they were NO help trying to tell me that only the grand prix 3.1 in 90 and 91 will work.. I know thats not true..So I did a search and I dident find a cross refrance list so some help would be nice.. thanks in advance

I think a 89-93 will work after that they went to an electronic shift control in 94+ hence the "e" in 4t60e. If you can find any 4t60 it will work.

 

now i know where was a different one for the 89-90 TGPs used a 4t60 but designed for turbos?

Grand Prix's got the 4T60-E in 1993 w/ the 3.1, I'm not sure what other W's got them in 93, but I'm pretty sure the Luminas didn't.

 

The 4T60 from a TGP will work in his car, the only difference is a few stronger parts are in it, so it might last longer behind a NA 3.1/take a little more abuse.

get a TGP tranny or '91-92 non electronic, they're the same, and the "strongest".

And you have a Z34 right?

 

All Z34/3.4 cars got the 4T60-E. While all the 3.1's up to 92 got the 4T60, so 93+ was the 4T60-E.
