It seems that right when everything is going good, something has to happen to spoil the fun. Today I got hooked up with a free Injector Service On the Cut. It ran really good in fact, the hesitation stopped and all. I went out to get some lunch and when i came back i though I heard my brakes dragging. but I stopped and the noise didn't go away. I opened the hood and the noise was coming from the back of the engine. on the passenger side, has this ever happened to any of you? I think it could be my water Pump cause it was overheating, or and I really hope its not... the camshaft bearings. i wanted to change the cams but i didn't want to be forced to do it.. I don't know.. maybe its something else.. any ideas? The power is still the same its just that the noice gets louder as the revolutions get higher. :?:

I'd find out what is causing your overheating problem as well - overheating is never a good thing

Yeah that's the reason I thought my water pump was going bad. I asummed maybe the bearing in the pump was bad, but I don't have a clue, It's the first time it ever overheats.. so ....

It sounds as if something were dragging on one of the pulleys. sounds like metal on metal though. but its not high pitched. it sounds almost like when your brake pads are gone.

Does you A/C work? Maybe the clutch on the compressor is siezed? It can be VERY loud.

If that were the case wouldn't it be more of a high pitched squeal?

I spoke to one of my buddies and he was asking me about the Alt. Ever since I got this car, it has never worked properly. So I hope that is it. he was telling me to take off the belt and run it for a COUPLE of minutes to see if it still makes the noise. that way I can eliminate some of the probable causes. I just wish I had more time to do it though.

Guest Gp crazy

My timing chain was making a noise and found out that it was slapping the cover. I thought it was the water pump. But when I took it apart it was both. I replaced the Gears + Chain + Nylon thing & water pump then it was quiet. The pump is gone again because I failed to replace the gasket that goes to the heater pipe though the car never overheated but man they go through alot of water over a couple of days.

Just replaced the water pump in my Cutty, seems to run quieter now. Relieve the tension on the belt and check for any side to side movement in the pulley and how easy it is to spin. If there is any side to side movement at all, replace it. Also when you turn it you should be able to feel if it is grinding or making any kind of noise. The water pumps are cheap (21.99 lifetime warranty at Autozone) and easy to replace.

Also, if your Alternator is dragging it could cause your belt to slip which may cause overheating. Just an idea though.

Just hope and pray that it's the water pump and not the alternator. Much more expensive and a lot more complicated job. :D
