89 GP
My 89 GP has a 2.8L. auto. It runs great under acceleration and at steady speeds. However when I come to a stop in gear it stalls about 75% of the time. The rest of the time it idles very low ( 200-300rpm) almost stalling.Any suggestions would be appreciated. GP1138
Idle Air Control valve has probably gone bad or requires cleaning. I'd just go to the junkyard, pull one off a 3.1/2.8 from any W, J, or N body, and throw it on there.
89 GP
Sorry but I should have mentioned that I had already tried the IAC valve. As well the car was not firing sometimes at startup and found the crank sensor to be cracked.
GP1138
Well paint me red and shoot the fence! Maybe if you had described everything wrong with the car in the first place, I could have helped more! More details, Kemosabe. Did you replace the crank sensor? Did you fix that problem? YOU WANT THE TRUTH? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!! 89 GP
Crank sensor has been changed and the car will start everytime. Thanks for the reply.
GP1138
Try unplugging the TCC clutch solenoid. If the car drives fine, your TCC is stuck on. It's right on the front of the tranny, two/four wire plug.

99RegalGS
Try unplugging your battery for a few minutes. Then once you plug it back in do the idle re-learn. My Cutlass was doing something similar a couple weeks ago and that fixed it....
94CutlassSLCoupe
do a re-learn and if that doesn't work...change your fuel filter...happened to my 2.8 cutlass that it would stall/run rough at low rpm but was fine higher up...Plus they are real cheap! skiiirt
Any SES codes?
Tru2Chevy
I'm gonna vote for the TCC too. My Lumina did the same thing several years ago. Pulled the plug and never looked back. - Justin

cah77388
Well, unplugged what I think is the TCC, but the SES light is on, and the Tranny doesn't change gears...is that normal
