heater core quick connect

on the 3.4 DOHC there a "quick connect" fitting that goes to the heater core

(its right by the thermostat)

 

has anyone had to replACE one of these....i spoke to a mechanic about it and he said that everyone he's had to replace cracked and he had to tap it to get it out ??

they are white metal, like the door handles that break all the time. if he is gental and it isnt already cracked, it will screw out. You can replace it with a tradtional heater hose fitting and a piece of hose.

i think its cracked and thats why it started leaking so.....i went and bought a thing of bars leak and put in and no leak....hopefully it will last a while

It's pretty easy to replace the line, it runs from the firewall to the water pump, along the frame rail.

the line is fine i believe its the actual fitting thats cracked i think
