What does my car run?

I just recently got my Lumina. I was wondering what my car runs in:

0-60

1/4

I tried to look it up, but was unable to

Also, someone told me that my car could beat v6 camaros and stangs. Is this true?

Some of the V6 f-bodies are fairly quick. At best you'll run a low 16 with minor mods. Stock I want to say is about a mid 16?

Older V6 stangs, maybe, newer ones no. Beating a V6 camaro would require you taking down a 3800. Think you can do it? The earlier 90s have the 3.4L pushrod motor, i dunno much about you vs that one.

You could easily beat 80's V6 camaro's, most of those were 2.8's, in the later years they went up to 3.1's, but those were only 125hp IIRC. So the 80's/early 90's square body Camaro wouldn't be that hard to beat, but the newer ones you might want to watch out for. Your car should be around the mid 16 second range in the 1/4.

i say mid-high 16's...maybe low 17's since you have a 4-door...might be some extra weight there...and, i don't think you'd be able to beat a mid 90's V6 firedbird or camaro...those 3.4's are actaully peppy in them...mid 90's mustangs you may be close...i know a 3400 alero will OWN a v6 stang...but, not sure if a 3100 w-body could...

Aren't 4- door's lighter in weight due to pillar construction and door strength?

no, 4 doors are heavier, because they have 2 more doors full of mechanical parts, while a coupe only has 2 doors, less wieght, u can look on i think pontiacs or some1's site, it says like about 100 pounds or less difference between 4 and 2 doors

Well I was always told that because of frame construction 2 doors were heavier. And the Lumina is lighter than the Monte Carlo so explain that one..

jeez 3800lbs!!!!!!!

you would probably beat a stock camaro with the shitty 160 horse 3.4 auto...if it was a 5 spd, it might be closer

the 3800 camaros you'd get your ass kicked

In our cars, Luminas are 100 pounds less than the Monte Carlo.

should get mid to high 16s if you're engine/tranny is in good shape

my Z pulls an average of 16.3 on the G-tech, with one peak of 16.05

my bros 2002 GP SE with the 3100 pulls +- 1 tenth whatever his is supposed to be, or so he says...

and yes, 3800lbs

the lightest it's ever been, is about 3650lbs.... 1/4 tank of gas and no sub or amps or spare tire in the trunk...

Really hate to tell you this but.... My 2001 2200 cavy will beat a 3.1 Lumina.

Call bullshit all you want, but my friend has a 1997 Gold lumina, and stock for stock I can win.

Why? Weight. I have a 2 door coupe, very light car. You/he have a 4 door sedan, and nearly a 900 pound weight difference.

Both of our engines are stock, clean, and under 90,000 miles. Trannys good, mounts holding, no mods. My stock 2.2 can beat out a 3.1 Lumina. I'm sorry. I Know I'll get flamed.

well duh, everyone knows a Cavi or Sunfire w/ a 2.2 Eco or 2.4 Eco will smoke a 3.1 W, what u think the 3.1 W is like fast? ur insane then, no noes gonna flame you for saying a car with more power, and lighter, vs a car with less power and more wieght. Well thats settled

I don't have the eco lol. Actually the eco and 3.1 are about the same, 150 HP. I think hte eco might be 160. Mines 120.

EDIT: I don't even think the Eco came out untill 2003... And the 2.4 Eco isn't even out yet.

That's bullshit.. the 3100 should be able to beat a 2.2 pushrod j-body. I can see if possibly being close between an older 2.8/3.1 and a 2.2OHV, but not the 3100. I should know cause my gf and sister both have sunfires (1995&1997). If the j-body has a 5-speed though, that might be a different story.

I agree with the 2.4 or the ecotech being faster though, ESPECIALLY with a 5-speed.

The 5 speed transmission isn't really going to increase power... Never understood why people think that... Sure it's easier to get a better launch. An auto shifts smoother and faster, you just can't mess around with the shift points, as easily.

But I did it. It was close, I will not deny that...

I have the 4 speed auto, and I think the luminas have a 3 speed? Maybe it is four?
