juicedlumina
So today i tried to change the output shaft seal. Once i got to the axle i couldnt figure how to get it out. I went to the archives and some people posted to pull hard. So i did, and the inner boot broke. Nice!. Then took another hour of prying and pounding to get the rest of the axle out. It was in there real hard. Then took an hour to get the old seal out, just destroyed it. Then the parts store gave me the wrong seal. Nice. Got a new one and got it in. So then i bought a boot and tried to do that myself. I was covered in grease, all my tools covered in grease and them damn boots and clamps are sooo damn tight its impossible to get it together. I did get it together just not the clamps. Ill have to take it somewhere to get them on, might only cost 20$. My mechanic said he woulda done it for $50. Im sure as hell taking my axle in next time. So far my $7 seal is gonna cost me like 60$ to fix and 7 hours of work. sucks

GP1138
Sounds like you had just as much fun as I had when I did the same thing. I remember very well being covered in grease. Fun stuff!
1990lumina
Hey I'm not going to judge you for at least trying dude!! I would have taken it in since I suck at most major repair jobs - or I don't trust myself enough to take axles off the ca and stuff lol - Jeff L. 95 3-4
So you just kept yanking on the outer end of the axle till you ripped the boot and axle out of its socket ? Damn we just go behind the socket with a big screwdriver or prybar and with one sharp rap pop it free. Sometimes you can put the clamp together then slide it onto the shaft and socket, large zip ties will work just as well and go on easier too
