3pt1lumina
My Lumina has been making a terrible creaking noise in the rearend for sometime now. I have been told numerous things as to what this may be. Some have said a dry bushing, other's have said strut plates, other's have said the struts themselves. I am leaning towards it being the struts and I am thinking about replacing them IF you guys really think that is what's causing the noise. If I replace them, what should I get? I know NOTHING about struts... I do know that I will buy strut plates to replace the stuff that's in there. So my question is, what is causing the noise in the rearend and if it is the struts, whats the cost of decent ones and what kind would you buy? Thanks guys!! 8)

DiscoStudd
Here's the PDF straight from Federal Mogul: http://www.federal-mogul.com/fmeconnect/technicalservices/downloads/2022.pdf They are very simple to install. Raise one end of the car up at a time (put 'er on a jack stand ) then place your jack directly under the leaf as close to the knuckle as you can and "get to jacking." Once you have the leaf raised up enough, scrape away the remnants of the old pad and install the new "puck" into the knuckle (the old pad mounted to the leaf, the new pucks slide onto the knuckle.) Repeat for the other side...
