perfecseal Posted April 30, 2005 Report Share Posted April 30, 2005 I got anuther w-bodie .. A 91 grand prix SE.. 100 bucks pics soon to come.. Now for my question.. The only problome with the car is that the tranny only has 1st,2nd and revearse... It of course has a 4t60 automatic.. I have been searching the local scrap yards and have found a few 4t60s for between 150 and 200 bucks but the all have over 170,XXX miles on them so Im very hesatint on this purchase , because I dont want to put in a tranny and have it go out a few months down the road.. So what are my options a rebuild on the presant tranny maybe a newer transmission that will install without alot of work.... I talked to a few local dealerships and one told me that a remanufactured trasmission may be an option but that would more than triple the price......anyone in the MN area with a spare I have a 4t60-E with 145,xxx miles if someone would like to swap or something. It is the labor that it takes to remove, rebuild, and re-install the tranny that brings the price up.
