Rabbi
Im currently getting my motor ready for the timing belt change. Oh yay... Anyway why do i need a cam gear holding tool to remove the cam gears? I though the camshaft hold down tool (flat tool) was supposed to hold the cams in place to remove the gears? Why do i need both?? Also,I cannot seem to find a timing mark on my crank pulley,or anywhere near it. Once i have it in TDC does it HAVE to be on the exhaust stroke? I have no idea how to tell if its on exhaust stroke or not,And didnt find anything by searching. Also when i removed my cam covers, Both the cam flats on the rear bank were facing up. While the front bank had one facing down and one sideways. Did this hurt anything? I know about the non interfeance engine design, But im still worried lol. And, Could i get by without replacing the pullys/actuator? Any specific way to test these to see if they are still in working order?
