The 3.4 was a bastard design from the 3.1 block, and the 3.8 is an old-ass motor.. I'm not getting into it!

This was settled very easily.

rudebot: Is the 3.4 better than the L67?

digitaloutsider: Very doubtful

Damn.

The 4.3 was a bastard of the 350? Does that mean it sucks? The SyTy guys certainly don't think so.

The LT5 was a bastard of the 350, and if you ever get to ride in one, trust me, you will love it.

The fact that it is a bastard design is good. It keeps prices down, and reliability up. We all know the 3.1 is a rock solid motor, so it is a great basis for some creative engineering. There aren't very many problems with this, in fact the only I can think of is the distributor plug and the less than adaquate lower end oiling, which isn't that bad, and takes a lot of abuse before having issues.

I am very interested to watch this thread, and thanks for posting the link. I am going to lock this one though to help you keep the discussion in that thread.
