wtf? trying to check for a code..

I'm trying to check for codes on the TGP..

 

-I jump what appears to be terminals A and B while the ignition is in the "ON" position (not running)

-the SES light goes off (with key in "ON" it's on solid)

-my intercooler fan goes on? what the hell?

 

I get no code blinks from the SES light, and why the hell would my fan go on?

 

The whole ALDL connector only has 4 wires in it..

 

 

going by that image, they're in A, B, M and the spot either below E or D (can't remember which). How is the TGP different from others?

Nevermind. It was showing code 12, just wasn't watching close enough.

 

I'm still wondering why the fan comes on?I tried it in the Cutlass and one of it's fan's came on as well.

The fan comes on in all of these cars. My Grand Prix did it, as did the Lumi. It's nothing to worry about.

My fan comes on too, with the key in the on position, if I have been driving it.

The fan in ALL my cars comes on when trying to pull codes.

Theres a SES light in the TGP? i always have my Check Gauges light if thats the same thing, but thats cause of the stupid cluster.

EVERY OBD-equipped car has an MIL. The check gauges light is completely different, and it means the soldering on the back of your cluster has become weak and brittle.

Check Gauges = fucked cluster or low on gas.

 

I think the SES light reads Engine Service Required or something to that effect.

no, im definatly not low on gas, its the cluster, cause u can hit the dash above it and it goes off, or if u press the brake, or turn the head lights on and off, it dims, lol, its stupid, i ignore it
