From 3K to 5.5K useless power

I was driving around with the digi playing with different positions of WOT and I have noticed this happens to me fairly often, just got it on film for the first time

Is this just my bad with the WOT or is there something wrong with my car?

Nah, my Lumina will kick down to 2nd gear while doing 110km...the engine will start to whine...and a few seconds later it will shift to third....I just don't floor it anymore around the speeds I know it will gear down so much for.

I wouldn't make a habit of doing that either.....

 

EDIT: Just saw you have the 3.4....I guess there is power up there for you....never mind what I said above lol....

All the power on my weak ass 3.1 is around 3k lol

I know when I mat the pedal my car immediately kicks down to next lower gear...then sometikes it decides to go for ANOTHER lower gear...depending on my speed.

The car pulls

it just blew all its potential energy. This usually only happens aound 60km/h or 35mph. Sometimes from a stand still. It's all about where I put the throttle

I can't say for sure... but it sounds as if your tranny took a little extra time to downshift right before the jump in RPM... or did you just not have the pedal down right away?

I know mine downshifts almost right away... but I don't know if mine is an example of a functional 3.4 setup

 

I gotta find a working camera and record that all again

It was maybe 3/4

 

I assume its a tranny on its way out. The damn thing has 222,000km on it and has never been serviced

It seems kinda like a tranny in my opinion. But what I'm not sure about is the tranny downshifting there or are you just giving it gas, and it slips like that. If the tranny isn't downshifting it's the trans for sure.

if it's 3/4 then I don't know if it's the tranny for sure... could be a vacuum leak or something... my Z does the same thing, as did my bros 91 GP and his 2k2 GP

My regal does the same damn thing.

 

Doing ~65 MPH - it'll kick down to 2nd gear - and get the revvs up to around 6,300 Rpms - scares the shit out of me (and be in the red-zone), and that's on a Jasper tranny about 1.5 years old...

 

Maybe just some shitty GM programming?

might just be GM programing, my moms GAGT is a 99 and only has 88k and u floor it, and its like creeps a bit then VROOOOOM up to 6k, or higher, and then shifts, while not gaining any speed (3400 what do u expect for top end )

these aren't really performance auto tranny's so shift is expected to be a little bit slow... part of it is programming, part mechanical
