sl3196
sl3196 is right (as he owns one)......it does NOT change WOT shifts....only downshifts sooner.....which is about as worthwhile as the tits on BIGBULS. Pretty much. Doesn't do much with a stock pcm.
Vegeta
Um, the button can be used for many things. Downshift is useful for response. Try going 1/4 throttle in overdrive and it doesn't kick out. I should be able to make it downshift for better power at part throttle, change WOT shift points, and if the computer allows it, 3-1 and 4-2 downshifts. I could make it stupid shift button as well and keep it in 3rd all the time almost:P On the 91-93, I changed the spark retard for shift time and that seems to have helped the shift time. Messing with the vacuum modulator will definetly have an impact on how fast it shifts though.
Aaron
Hahaha, I WAS RIGHT: change WOT shift points But I did compare it to the L67s, but I wasn't referring to them, just saying liek what they do, as I thought they did. Sweet, but autos still suck
Canada
http://www.w-body.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17672&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=bigbuls That's the actual link to the thread that BIGBULS was talking about. It IS the "3.4 5 speed video" thread, but I actually had a FAR easier time searching for it by searching in the "General" section and typing "BIGBULS" (I probably should have just asked him, but he was at work). And as he said....page 2 is where shiftpoint discussion starts........ Just remember.......very few dyno runs exist of close to stock 3.4 DOHC's (hell...very few total...modded OR stock), so it would probably actually be better to do the shiftpoint stuff by dynoing the test car itself and going from there. This way, you can tailor the shifting to take advantage of the extra top end that I understand your chip adds. Either way though..........the shiftpoint thread does make some good points. Just remember to check what rpm the tach drops to OFF of the shift..........the 4T60-E gives the torque convertor a LOT of leway to slip and allow artificially high rpm (I seem to recall it slips something like 800rpm off of the 1-2 shift for the LQ1's). Vegeta
I can monitor the total slippage with this program though its a seperate file than what I use for fuel tuning. If I can find a dyno nearby, i will be going that route. I have my doubts about making a lot more power on this chip cause its already rated 10 hp more than the 91-93 auto. It sems to have more power than the 91-93 do anyway. Wait and see I guess.
