MoTox8410
i know there has been a million topics but tomarrow i going to run up to the exhaust shop where i get my hooked up at (rather not say the name cuz what there doing could be a possible fine so...the guy i no pretty well and is one of my dads freinds)in business for 20+ years so keith told me that the only way to really make it sound any louder is to cut the cat out and put in a straight pipe for $40 and that between most the mufflers im not going to notice much of a difference and that this engine is already pretty raspy.....so what do you guys suggest he does not stock magnaflow so thats not a possibility....i was thinking dynomax (i think the turbos??) thats what i had put on vette and they sound great so what should i have done tomarrow???? SLICK also im thinking about having a intake pipe bent for a cone how did you guys (slick94prix) put the sensor in there and where... what is the bend of the angle and length of tube?? THanks.... GTPrix
What are you going for? From what I could translate, you just want it louder, or what? If you run with no cat, not only will you not pass emissions, but the exhaust gas will have a slight smell to it that wouldn't be all that great. Also, imo, you have to run with mufflers, if not it will just sound like ass. I have heard that the Dynomax turbos or superturbos (I think) sound good on a v6. It will still be pretty raspy though. On my Cutty with Flowmaster 40 series and Magnaflow cat it was still quite loud, but sounded nice. And your right, this has been discussed A LOT... MoTox8410
trust me i know its been discussed alot i think ive had a topic on it...just want to be sure of what im going to do do we have emission test in MI lol so that dont matter + there shouldnt be any bad smell infact it will probally take away the rotten egg smell i am staring to get cuz i have the orig. cat on it i definitely want louder but not anything offensive and a nice tone also how big of a difference will no cat make?? 5speedz34
The best set-up for a Z34 or any 3.4 for that matter, IMO, is: 2.5" piping and Magnaflow mufflers. I would stick with the cat, get a Hi-Flow one of Ebay (about $50). For raspiness you can have another long skinny muffler welded in after the cat to take out the raspiness. But if I were you get Magnaflow muffs, a Hi-Flow Cat, and some kind of resonator. Ohh and for the intake all you have to do is drill a hole for the sensor and mount it. Bend angle and length of the tube is really up to you.

slick
Exhaust: 2.5" piping, high flow cat, magnaflow mufflers Intake: 3" mandrel bent tubing, we bent it to 55*
MoTox8410
i think i want to stick with 2 1/4??stock??? i think for right now + he said that 2 and 1/4 is good enough for that motor...we only put 2.5 on the vette and thats pushing upwards of 300 HP i also stated that magnaoflows are not a possibility so whats next on the list??? slick
Yep. To get a decent sound out of a 3.4, you will have to spend a few bucks.
MoTox8410
also where did you get the clamp that goes off the intake manifold (hardware??) and where is the sensor...i hope you dont mind me copieing your design
slick
For the sensor, i just drilled a hole, popped it in, and used the clip from the stock airbox to hold it in place. As for the intake coupler, auto parts store.
